Stock Photo - The famous Chamba Statue carved into the rock at the Mulbek Gompa. The impressive eight meter (21 ft.) high figure carved into the rock face pictures a standing Maitreya Buddha or Buddha-to-come overlooking the old trade route and modern highway. It dates to the Kushan period in the early centuries CE. Modern scholars date it as being from around the eighth century.
