It depicts a garden courtyard located at the Carthusian monastery at the Palacio del Infante Don Luis, within the grounds of the Royal Palace in Aranjuez, 40 kilometers south of Madrid. The painting was included in the National Exposition of Fine Arts of Madrid in 1916.
