The around 1.5-ton bronze sculpture of the reformer Martin Luther mwas being cleaned for around six weeks in a workshop in Eisleben and was then covered with a protective wax coating. The monument will remain veiled until the city officially presents in on 30 September 2016. The monument was made in 1883 by sculptor Rudolf Siemering (1835-1905) for Luther's 400th birthday.
