Stock Photo - The Organ Pipes are a geological phenomena on the hillside above the river. These perpendicular dolerite or basalt pillars were formed about 120 million years ago. Many of the pillars are over 4 metres high. The molten lava which forced its way through the earth cooled in a way which caused the material to split vertically.
