Stock Photo - The Representation of Spring, or Mosaico de los Amores, is an ancient Roman mosaic located within the Archaeological Site of Castulo in south-central Spain. The mosaic, which dates from the 4th century, is considered one of the finest examples of Hispano-Roman art in the region. The mosaic depicts a female figure, thought to represent Spring, surrounded by a variety of different birds and surrounded by four fountain-like structures. The mosaic is composed of a variety of colored stone pieces and measures around 35 feet in length and 25 feet in width. It is believed to have been originally part of a Roman villa in the Castulo area. Castulo is an ancient Roman settlement near modern-day Linares in the province of Jaén. The Archaeological Site of Castulo encompasses the ruins of the Roman settlement, including the Mosaico de los Amores. Visitors to the site can access the mosaic, as well as see remnants of the Roman villa, baths and defense walls, in addition to other ruins and artifacts.
