Stock Photo - This 1890s illustration by French artist Joseph Seraphin Layraud (1833-1913) shows the Hungarian pianist and composer Franz Liszt (1811-1886). He was regarded as the greatest pianist of his time. He developed the tone poem, which influenced Wagner and Richard Strauss. His Hungarian Rhapsodies are among his chief works. His daughter married Wagner.
