Stock Photo - This painting adorned the entrance to Tomb KV 5 (Tomb #5 in the Valley of the Kings) in West Thebes. This illustration dates to 1903 and appeared in the book History of Egypt by French Egyptologist Gaston Maspero. It shows the god of the underworld Osiris sitting at left. The scales to judge the deceased are in front of him. At right are pictured the deceased being brought to him. Above Osiris are four representations of the ba, thehuman-headed bird that represented the soul of the deceased.
