Stock Photo - Up to 25,000 people were killed in the Allied bombing of Dresden between 12 and 15 February 1945. The dead were transported to public places in the city with horse carriages and carts to be identified there. Fearing epidemics, thousands of corpses were burnt during the following days at the Altmarkt (old market) of the city. Later, the ashes of the dead were buried on cemeteries.
