Stock Photo - Waltrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, ship lift and lock park Waltrop. Here the disused old shaft lock is now used as a footpath and bike path. The four descent structures at the branch of the Rhine-Herne Canal (at the back) from the Dortmund-Ems Canal are known as the Waltrop lock park. The only lifting system in operation is the New Lock, built in 1989 between the old shaft lock and the new lift.
